Rabbits cannot be shipped in the mail and often flying is not feasible. There are many third party transporters that specialize in the transport of rabbits throughout the US. Kerfluffle Angora is happy to work with reputable transporters to get your rabbit safely.
Rabbits will not be put on transport until they are a minimum of 10 weeks old. All transported rabbits will be shaved 1 week prior to transporting whether transporter requires it or not. Rabbits not transported by 12 weeks old will require a $25/week boarding fee unless previously discussed. Full payment of all transported rabbits is due by the time they are 8 weeks old.
How the Transport Process Works
Booking: Buyer books a transport route based on where the rabbit needs to go. Please speak to rabbit transporters to verify routes and times.
Pick-Up: The driver collects the rabbit directly from the breeder requiring a brief visual inspection to ensure the bunny is healthy and fit for travel. Pick-up can be anywhere from twenty minutes away to two hours. Kerfluffle Angora will meet a transport within a half an hour for free. Buyer is responsible for any additional time and mileage to meet the transporter unless there are 4 or more rabbits hopping on the same transport.
The Journey: Rabbits are secured in individual, well-ventilated plastic carriers lined with absorbent bedding or hay. Transporters stop regularly to provide fresh food and water.
Delivery: The transporter meets the new owner at a pre-arranged drop-off location (e.g., a rest stop, home,). Please note that this delivery is on the transporters time and not yours. Transport meetups can be up to 2 hours away and any time of day (or night). Delays are not uncommon due to traffic, vehicle issues, weather, etc. Please make sure you are able to collect your rabbit or provide a backup person to pick them up. The transporter WILL NOT WAIT FOR YOU. If you are late, it is your responsibility to figure out how to get your rabbit. Kerfluffle Angoras will not offer any guarantee on rabbits that travel an excessive amount of time on the transport due to fault of the buyer.
